The Hahs Group has been helping clients with their insurance and financial service needs since the early 1950s when the late M. Luther Hahs opened the first Northwestern Mutual district agency in Cape Girardeau, MO. Luther opened a satellite office in Carbondale several years later, and the firm grew to serve a much larger footprint in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois in the 1960s. Luther’s nephew, T. Ronald Hahs, CLU®, ChFC®, joined the business in 1964 and his son, David Hahs, CLU®, ChFC®, joined in 1972. Shortly thereafter, Luther suffered a massive stroke during open-heart surgery at the age of 53 and was unable to return to work. Ron and David carried on Luther’s legacy into the 21st century and expanded the scope of services to include comprehensive financial planning, business continuation and estate planning, and investment management.

In 2008, Clay Hahs, JD and Jesse Barge, CFP®, joined the firm and helped steepen the trajectory of growth in both the depth of planning and client capacity. Today, as Northwestern Mutual’s planning platform and technological capabilities continue to expand, The Hahs Group now serves clients in well over half the States while remaining steadfastly committed to giving every client the personalized touch they deserve.
